if fragile, economic recovery means that an
increase may now nally be on the horizon.
Anthony Hilton, nancial editor of the
Evening Standard
, looks at how central banks are
preparing nancial markets for a return to more normal economic
conditions and considers what this might mean for investors.
Low interest rates were a reaction to the nancial crisis which
erupted in 2008 and sent banking pro ts, shares and reputations
tumbling. We report on the prospects for the industry, seven
years on.
Jamie Roberts will nd out at the end of August whether he
has earned a place in the Welsh team for this autumn’s Rugby
World Cup, but he has already made his mark on the game with 69
international appearances for Wales as well as nine outings for the
British and Irish Lions. Yet he has still found time to qualify as a
doctor and, after the World Cup, he will be heading to Cambridge
to start a master’s degree in surgery. We talk to him about how he
combines two demanding careers.
