W
hile political uncertainty
rose in Ukraine and the
Middle East, stock markets
remained calm during the
quarter.The main US indices
reached record highs, despite
the continued tapering of
quantitative easing, while

growth. In Asia, Japan’s
recovery programme is yet
to achieve growth, while
China has continued to pursue
its own stimulus package to
arrest the pace of its economic
slowdown.The prolonged
