Chairman, Investment Committee, St. James’s Place Wealth Management

s the dust settles on June’s snap UK general election,

with yet another surprise result, we asked the

Financial Times

’ Brian Groom for his views on how the

UK and EU are now placed, going into the crucial

stages of Brexit negotiations.

Away fromEurope, Japan has been performing

strongly in recent years under PrimeMinister Shinzo Abe’s economic

reforms. Capital Economics’ Senior Japan Economist Marcel Thieliant

explains why he thinks the future looks positive for Japanese equities.

On the global stage, we look at the potential impact from the change

in emphasis coming from the newUS administration and what this

might mean for world trade.

Elsewhere, crowdfunding comes into focus as we examine whether

this nancing model is the future for entrepreneurial businesses, and if

the investment stacks up for backers. We also look at how the changing

nature of retirement and the trend towards a gradual phasing out of work

has replaced the tradition of abruptly ‘downing tools’ at 65.

Finally, we look back at 18 years of the ISA and also hear fromTye

Bousada, founding partner of EdgePointWealthManagement. And we

meet Dr Sarah Fane, whose Afghan Connection charity has funded the

construction of 46 schools in the war-torn country.
