Chairman, Investment Committee, St. James’s Place Wealth Management

ith Britain voting to leave the European

Union in June, we have dedicated a

series of articles to the developing

situation. We look at the implications

this will have for the country and for

investors, and consider how the exit

process is likely to unfold in the months ahead. Of course, with things

moving so quickly on the political front, anything we include now

will almost certainly be out of date by the time you get to read it, but

these are signi cant events and so it is right we try to bring you the

views of some of our fund managers and other commentators. I found

it reassuring to read the views of Neil Woodford and Stuart Mitchell

and hope you nd their insight helpful. Further updates in the coming

weeks will be available from your St. James’s Place Partner.

Continuing on the political theme, our Analysis feature compares

and contrasts the regularly changing leadership of the United States

with the enforced long-term political stability of China. With the

US set to elect its 45th president in November, not all of the elected

candidate’s policies will become law. By contrast, the Communist

Party of China plans decades ahead, setting out detailed ve-year

strategies, yet this is not necessarily enough to translate into action.

I hope all of the articles will be of interest to you; do let me know if

there is a subject you would like to see featured in a future edition.
