n January, St. James’s Place celebrated its 25th anniversary.
In this issue of The Investor, we look back at the key
nancial events that have shaped the UK and the world
over the past quarter of a century, as well as the milestones
in our own history.
Technology has transformed our world, yet it is just 25 years
since Tim Berners-Lee launched the rst public website, marking the
start of a revolution that has touched everything – from the way we
communicate with each other to our shopping and nancial services.
Our technology feature looks at developments from email and search
engines to social networks and online shopping, and wonders what
technology could have in store for us in the future.
The nancial crisis in 2007 was one of the worst events for the
world economy in the post-war period, leaving banking failures,
austerity budgets and huge market-support programmes in its wake.
