icking up on where we left o at the end of last year,

2017 is already proving to be another year where

politics take centre stage. For UK investors, the

main focus is going to be on the Brexit process, and

the possibility of another referendum in Scotland.

But there is also a need to keep one eye on the series

of elections taking place across Europe; so we look at what impact the

shift away from centrist parties and individuals may have.

Following the UK’s vote to leave the European Union, the subject

of conversation now turns to how Prime Minister Theresa May can

make a success of the split. Economist David Smith looks at what the

government hopes to achieve post-Brexit and the sectors that could

help to drive growth in the UK economy.

One such sector is cell therapy. The UK is one of the world’s leading

centres for this industry, supported by government funding. We look at

its potential to drive both growth and jobs while also providing cutting-

edge treatment for a number of diseases.

Elsewhere, we look at how upcoming advances in aircraft

technology are set to propel air travel to new heights. In addition, as

the St. James’s Place Foundation marks its 25-year anniversary, we

look back at some of its successes and the good causes it has supported.
